Samuel Cooper (1603-1672) was the chief painter of portrait miniatures for the Stuart courtiers of the 17th century. He also worked for Cromwell's people during the Interregnum of the 1650s. Other painters included in this group from the Victoria & Albert Museum are Nicholas Dixon (above), Thomas Flatman, and John Hoskins.
