Sculpture & Teapot

An ancient personal favorite at the San Francisco Asian Art Museum is the pottery teapot at top, with its double masquerade – it pretends to be made of wood (there is even a splinter missing from the supposedly wooden spout)  and further pretends not to be a teapot at all, but a storage chest (for tea) with its own matching stool. On the top, what is actually the lid disguises itself as a tiny tea set on a tiny tray.
